How much do custom leather patch hats cost?
On a Richardson 112: $21.50 each at 12-23, $21.00 at 24-47, $20.50 at 48-71, $20.00 at 72-95, $19.50 at 96-119, $19.00 at 120-143 and $18.50 at 144+, all-in with a glued patch. No setup fee. See /pricing/ for other hats.
Is there a minimum order?
No. Pricing starts at the 12-23 tier and breaks every 24 pieces. We make a dozen for a wedding and 300 for a company.
How long does it take?
Standard turnaround is 28 days from the day you approve the digital proof. Quotes usually go out the same business day. Rush is quoted per job.
Are the patches real leather?
We laser-engrave and cut leather patches on an OMTech 80-watt CO2 laser and have since 2020. Current leather options are listed on your quote and shown on the proof.
Are patches glued or sewn?
Glued by default, using our own heat process on a two-platen hat press. Sewn-on (edge-stitched on our commercial embroidery machines) is $1 more per hat.
Is there a setup fee?
No setup or digitizing fee for laser-engraved patches. If you add embroidery, digitizing is $18.99 one time per design.
What artwork do you need?
Vector (AI, EPS, PDF, SVG) preferred; a 300 dpi PNG works for most logos. One color. We proof it before engraving.
Can you engrave fine detail and small text?
Yes. Leather engraving holds lines down to about 0.5 pt and text down to about 0.1 inch tall, which is finer than embroidery.
Can I use my own hats?
Yes. Decoration price plus $2 per item handling. Industry-standard spoilage allowance is about 4%; we aim for zero.
Which hats do you recommend?
Richardson 112 for most jobs. YP Classics 6606 for a lower price, 256 or 258 for a rope cap, 168 for a big patch, 115 for a low crown, Flexfit 110M for a stretch fit, SP12 beanie for winter.
Can I split an order across hat colors?
Yes, at no charge, as long as the patch design is the same.
Can you add embroidery to a patch hat?
Yes. Patch front plus embroidered side or back text is one job here. Patch rate plus cap embroidery rate ($7.00 at 24-47, $5.00 at 144+) plus $18.99 digitizing once.
Do you make embroidered or woven patches?
No. Our patches are laser-engraved leather. We do direct embroidery on hats.
Do you ship nationwide?
Yes. Every order ships from Battle Born Clothing in Yerington, Nevada, to anywhere in the US. Shipping is quoted by weight and destination.
What if there is a mistake?
If the error is ours, we redo it free. The digital proof is there so the design is agreed before we cut leather.
Can I see a sample first?
You get a digital proof at scale on the hat before production. Physical pre-production samples are quoted per job.
Do you keep my file for reorders?
Yes. Your engrave file stays on our laser. Reorders are priced at the quantity you reorder with no new setup.
Do you offer XL or youth hats?
The Richardson 112XL is available; youth truckers are quoted per job. Sizes are not needed on hat orders, just XL counts.
Can each hat have a different name?
Personalized patches are quoted per job. Standard pricing is one patch design per order.
