Two choices shape the look more than anything else: the leather tone and the patch outline. Here is how we guide buyers through both, and what we show on the proof so you can decide before anything is engraved.

## Leather color

Engraving removes the top surface of the leather. On light and tan leather the engraved area darkens, giving a brown-on-tan look with strong contrast. On dark leather the engraved area goes lighter. Both read well; contrast is highest on tan. Tell us the hat colors and we will recommend a leather tone that stands out against them. Current leather options are listed on your quote and shown on the proof.

## Patch shape

- Rectangle: the default. Fits wordmarks and horizontal logos.
- Rounded rectangle: softer, fits most logos, our most common cut.
- Oval: suits rope caps and round logos.
- Circle: badge-style marks and monograms.
- Shield or custom outline: cut on the laser from your vector; quoted per job if the outline is complex.
